Rose DeWitt Bukater was another main character in the Titanic. Rose is a 17-year old woman from Philadelphia. Rose boards the ship with her fiancé Cal (played by Billy Zane) and her mother Ruth. She was known to be a first class woman.
What stereotypes do Rose and Jack represent?
Jack Dawson represents a kind person. This could be seen when Jack interferes and persuades Rose not to jump from the ship. Jack also portrayed a kind character when he gave importance to Rose’s life compared to him. When the boat started to sink and both of them fall down into the water, Jack made sure that Rose is safe till the second he died.
Meanwhile Rose DeWitt Bukater represents a character that appreciate relationship and who dislike to be in control of her mother, Ruth. When Cal and Ruth remain wary of the young third-class boy, Rose has developed a friendship with Jack. Rose had also followed Jack from the first-class dinner that night to the third class party secretly and enjoyed herself there. She showed appreciation to relationship when she realized that she cannot leave Jack, and jumps back on board into the ship to reunite with him. Rose is someone who dislikes being in control of her mother because she feels that Ruth, her mother is pushing her so much into the boundaries of being a first class woman that made Rose to be in control all the time.

Are they good or bad?
Both Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater is a good person.
What complexities does he and she have, if any?
Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater had complexities when the ship started to sink. When Rose went on board and saved Jack who was arrested, both of them return to the top deck to rescue themselves but unfortunately all the lifeboats have departed. The remaining passengers on the ship started to fall down into the sea as the stern rises out of the water. The ship breaks in half as the stern side rose to a full 90 degrees into the air. Jack and Rose ride the stern down into the ocean as the ship sinks fully. Jack had also helped Rose to get onto a nearby wall panel which will only support one person’s weight. By hanging on the panel, he made sure that Rose is safe. When Fifth Officer Harold Lowe arrived to save the survivors, Rose was saved but Jack has died.
The relationship between Jack and Rose always reminds me of true love. The scene where Jack saved Rose by giving her a safe spot proves this and he made sure she is safe till the second of his last breath.
ReplyDeleteJack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater are definitely good people because both of them know how to treat people with respect and not to underestimate anyone's culture. Rose followed Jack to the third class people's party and had a great time with him by drinking beers instead of her expensive wines.
This movie should not be looking by the expensive budget production only, but rather how well it performed to audiences or how the contents in the movie can reflect our mind of thinking. In this case, there are some of significant points that can be brought out.
ReplyDeleteStarting by the mentioned main characters, Jack and Rose, they both show different personalities to each other, but as the time progresses, they both can be mixed together and formed a relationship. The true sign of love can be made when something different occurs first; it's just like mixing a juice with different fruits, but later can be blend well and produce a nice mouth-sweetener product.
As we watched through the movie, we should not forget on how the story goes. We know that the movie was based on true historic moment, only the individual storytelling is just a fictional, to add some dramatic for movie sake, but it does not kill the real history because the movie shows lots of iconic moment and significant places, like the big ship Titanic (obviously), country like England and the date where the event occurred (1912). They are important things that needed to be stated clearly in the movie or else the real tragic history will never be known.
The love story is the heart of the film and at first glance it may seem to be the
ReplyDeletestereotypical one of the poor boy winning the rich girl and both of them are good people they don't think about your rice or poor they respect each another in this days you can't see that. The film was great story, because it's a true story. I would say it's a classic. The sadness part I will never forget it in the movie when the mother and children are locked away in a room as the ship was going down was one of the most saddest scenes I have ever seen I can't even imagine what was going through their minds, in a realistic situation.
